Archaeological/Architectural Assessment (in accordance to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act - NHPA)Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (NHPA) requires Federal agencies to take into account the effects of their undertakings on historic properties, and afford the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation a reasonable opportunity to comment. The historic preservation review process mandated by Section 106 is outlined in regulations issued by ACHP. 1 The Act requires Federal agencies to evaluate all actions which may affect a property listed on the National Register of Historic Places, or which may have an effect on a property eligible for listing. Our staff and outstanding cultural resource specialists are highly-trained and experienced in performing cultural resource assessments required by the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). We will seek to accommodate historic preservation concerns with the needs of federal undertakings through consultation with Agency Officials during the early stages of project planning. If adverse effects exist or if the participating parties cannot agree, then Rox Engineering will develop and implement a mitigation plan that will assess its effects and seek ways to avoid, minimize or mitigate any adverse effects on historic places.
